Bad Democrat

I haven’t had a lot of positive things to say about the Democrats lately. I think they look worse when they focus on fighting Donald Trump and when I hear analysts say that that’s what the base wants them to do, I imagine them capitulating to my irritating friends on Instagram. But when I hear them talk about the shutdown, I actually think that I like them. They stand up at the press conference podium and talk about how millions of people will lose health insurance if they don’t do this and I think…you can do this. It’s something that the people on mainstream news and talk shows playing the adversary as they interview them seem to miss because they’re focused on the federal workers who aren’t getting paid. They’re not doing the wrong thing or anything, it’s just that the Democrats look good standing for this and the horrible fact of people not getting paid doesn’t really cut them down in this case.

I think the Senate is going to make a deal around before it’s time for food stamp benefits to run out. But in the meantime, the Democrats look good from the shutdown.
