Facebook lawsuit

I wonder about the proximity of the social media lawsuits–in which Meta (Instagram), Google (YouTube), TikTok, and Snap (Snapchat) are accused of deliberately addicting and harming children (TikTok and Snap settled, Meta and Google are going to trial)–I wonder about the lawsuit’s proximity to the fact that Instagram made us less addicted to Facebook. Facebook purchased Instagram in 2012. Why did they want to take us away from Facebook, which is not like MySpace in that it’s not feeling unbelievably dated to refer to it? Are we off of Facebook, like many say, or are we actually on it and enjoying it more than the other apps?
