Bad Democrat

When I was younger, I felt like my challenge was to accept as many people from as many walks of life as possible, even when they did things that I did not appreciate, because you never know where someone comes from and what’s influencing them that you empathize with. Now that I’m older and I did that, I feel like it’s going a little bit in the other direction, where my job is to think, ‘if you have a bad or weird feeling about someone, you should try to avoid them’. My first way was right for then. Now, I’d hold them at arms’ length.
