Have you ever seen the Maine license plate? It has a bird on a pine cone and it is staring at the numbers. I am thinking about things that tell us to pay attention to something. The bottom says “Vacationland” and the top says “MAINE” in a stylish bold font. The “Vacationland” part is italicized and over pine trees that look like tall grass, and the bird is staring at the top of the numbers right beneath “MAINE” with a gap in between. I think the license plate is telling Mainers to focus on the daily life of the state so the enjoyment will take root. The space between “MAINE” and the numbers the bird is staring at is meant to symbolize the translation process from the bottom through the daily life to get to the feeling of the state.
