Virginia (VA)

The Virginia license plate has VIRGINIA written out in a font where you think “it’s exactly that.” and then license plate numbers underneath in basically the same font. The top is in a nice medium blue and the license plate numbers are in a nice dark blue. Both colors actually remind me of uncommon, for common, colors of clothes. I think that the state is telling its residents that they ought to be a little bit conformative to the feeling of the state, and it’s good that way, and they’re saying be consistent in the way that you are and make it Virginia. Then the bottom says “Virginia is for Lovers” in a different all-caps font that’s bold and compact with a red heart as the O. It looks like it was designed by a tourism group in a good way. I think they’re saying “and then there’s the marketing from our basis–and we’re great at that” as in, outsiders, take a road trip across Virginia like Garden State. But you want it because of things being like the top two rows of blue, Virginia-spoken font–and the don’t see it another way. And to residents, I think they’re saying, you can be a little bit goofy towards others not from here from your basis as a together, solid person and that’s where it belongs.
