The City of Chino’s PD recently made a number of high-profile arrests of suspects connected to a sophisticated EBT fraud and ATM skimming operation. They seized cloned cards, computers, cash, and ATM skimming devices.

From the city of Chino Police Dept.’s FB Page: The investigation also revealed the suspect was an international fugitive from Eastern Europe wanted for organized crime and human and child trafficking offenses. AI summary of their FB page that I can’t find: EBT fraud typically involves organized crime rings that install physical skimmers at ATM or store checkout card readers. These devices copy your card’s magnetic strip and PIN, which the thieves then use to encode cloned cards and drain accounts shortly after funds are deposited.

From NBC4 Los Angeles: According to the department, investigators with the Criminal Investigations Bureau recovered fraudulent EBT cards, ATM skimming devices, computers, cell phones, cash and hundreds of cards believed to have been used to encode stolen EBT and ATM information.

Authorities said the investigation disrupted what they described as a sophisticated fraud operation targeting EBT recipients.

They arrested the people in connection with the cloned cards and computers, which were elsewhere in Chino.

I hadn’t seen anyone actually get arrested for this before, so I thought I’d share that authorities are detecting sophisticated fraud operations in Chino California.

They can skim off your card and gradually bankrupt you without it showing up as an unknown charge. I’ve seen it before.
