4 New York Times journalists were subpoenaed this weekend after publishing a piece about President Trump and the Secret Service. The piece revealed that the Secret Service urged President Trump to take the old, American Air Force One home from the NATO summit in Turkey instead of the new Air Force One that the Qataris gifted him earlier last year. The journalists will have to testify this week before a grand jury in a Manhattan court room.
“This is a tremendously successful summit,” Trump declared before boarding the aircraft to head home to the U.S.
The journalists were subpoenaed by Jay Clayton, President Trump’s nominee to serve as the next Director of National Intelligence who can issue subpoenas in his role as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
