From the NY Post: Approximately 400 non-citizens cast ballots illegally in New Jersey elections since 2023 after more than 6,000 immigrants were wrongly added to the Garden State’s voter rolls, Democratic Gov. Mikie Sherrill admitted Tuesday.

Sherrill blamed it on a serious software error. But IDEMIA, the software company, said that the state had access to the data showing that those individuals were not citizens and registered them to vote regardless.

The problem came from the New Jersey ID system. ID recipients who said they wanted to register to vote, but declared that they were noncitizens, were added to voter rolls in 2023 and 2024 — despite it being illegal under federal law.

A state official disputed the claims. The debacle took place under Sherrill’s predecessor, former Gov. Phil Murphy (D). Sherrill announced Tuesday that the state has hired an outside group, CSG, to investigate the matter.

Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) on Wednesday demanded that the General Services Administration and the Office of Management and Budget probe federal contracts with IDEMIA in response. The vendor manages systems for TSA PreCheck and driver’s license programs in most states.
